QLook Zip
Screenshots
See what is inside before you unpack.
Select an archive in Finder and press Space. QLook Zip turns Quick Look into a focused archive viewer, with a folder tree on the left and a file preview on the right.
FIND THE FILE YOU NEED
Browse folders, sort by name, size or modified date, and check an overview of file counts and original sizes. Inspect full paths, compression methods and CRC-32 when the archive provides them.
READ INSIDE THE ARCHIVE
- Markdown with headings, lists and code blocks.
- Expandable JSON and JSON Lines.
- CSV and TSV tables with delimiter and header controls.
- Syntax highlighting for common source files.
- Plain text with encoding options and line wrapping.
- Hex view with byte selection and copying.
KEEP YOUR WORK MOVING
Switch between formatted, text and Hex views when available. Copy text or paths for use in another tool. Adjust text size and the width of the file list.
ZIP, RAR AND TAR
Supports ZIP, RAR and uncompressed TAR, plus gzip, bzip2, xz and zstd compressed TAR archives. Standalone compressed streams that do not contain TAR are left to the system preview.
LOCAL AND READ-ONLY
Archive processing happens on your Mac. No account, analytics or tracking. QLook Zip does not modify your archives or extract their contents into a folder.
GET STARTED
Open QLook Zip once and enable its Quick Look extension if needed. Select an archive in Finder and press Space. Requires macOS 14 or later.
Encrypted file contents cannot be previewed. If the file list is encrypted, it cannot be displayed. Password entry is not supported in Quick Look. Damaged archives, unsupported compression methods and preview safety limits can restrict what is shown. QLook Zip is a preview utility; it does not extract or edit archives.
